Summary: The Compassionate Friends is a nonprofit self help organization providing support to families following the death of a child. There are nearly 600 chapters in The United States with locations in all 50 states. The Compassionate Friends has a national presence in 25 countries around the world and annually sponsors The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting at 7 p.m. local time the 2nd Sunday in December. The candle lighting starts in New Zealand, creating a virtual wave of light around the globe in remembrance of all children who have died too soon.
