Special Agents come from a broad range of educational disciplines, but one thing they all have in common is a pursuit of a meaningful career, and the desire to combat crime. Upon entering the FBI, each new Agent serves a two year probationary period, and attends 16 weeks of intensive training at the FBI Academy at Quantico. During these 16 weeks, trainees will both study academics in a classroom as well as participate in intensive physical training.
Opportunities:
Upon graduation from the Academy, credentials of an FBI Special Agent will be granted. As a newly appointed Special Agent, assignments will be based upon current needs of the FBI. This assignment will last for at least four years, with guidance from a veteran Special Agent for the first few months. Additional training and promotion is available throughout an agent's career, and all Special Agents are entitled to a variety of benefits, including health and life insurance, vacation and sick pay, and a full retirement plan.
Qualifications:
In order to be considered for a Special Agent position an applicant must be a U.S. citizen between the ages of 23 and 36, and have a four year degree from an accredited college or university. In addition, applicants must have uncorrected vision not worse than 20/200, and corrected vision must be 20/20 in one eye, and not worse than 20/40 in the other. Applicants must also posses a valid driver's license.

Information Resources Division
Laboratory Division
Inspection Division
Office of Public and Congressional Affairs
Each division plays a specific role and all the divisions need professional support. Professional Support employees have different duties from Special Agents. The duties and roles played by Professional Support employees are crucial to the success of the FBI.
There are many types of Professional Support position ranging from Engineers, Attorneys, Contract Specialist, Chemists, Language Specialist, Management Analyst, Fingerprint examiner, telecommunications operator, carpenter, utility maintenance mechanic, automotive Mechanic, Secretary, Tour Leader, to Intelligence Assistant.
